Wildwood School

K–12th grades, authentically progressive since 1971. 29-Sep-2020

Wildwood School is a K-12, co-educational, college preparatory day school. As a nationally-acclaimed independent school founded on a progressive, research-based approach, Wildwood emphasizes academic excellence and instills a genuine passion for learning. Armed with knowledge, creativity, curiosity, and passion, Wildwood students graduate with the power to make a difference in the world.

WILDWOOD ELEMENTARY (K-5)

Wildwood’s elementary campus is located in the Mar Vista area and houses 300 students. Curriculum encompasses core academic subjects and emphasizes hands-on learning where children learn to think critically and creatively. At every stage, experiences outside of the classroom—including field trips and community involvement—enrich the curriculum and give children the opportunity to learn in real-world settings.

WILDWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL (6-8)

Wildwood’s middle school program offers academic and creative opportunities in an active learning environment where adolescent development is understood and supported. Middle school academics are increasingly rigorous as students are challenged in an interdisciplinary humanities class—illuminating social studies and language arts—as well as mathematics, science, and Spanish. Building on the critical-thinking skills developed in elementary school, Wildwood middle school students cultivate an ability to examine and understand complex concepts, investigate and build evidence, and present findings.

WILDWOOD UPPER SCHOOL (9-12)

The upper school offers an intellectually challenging curriculum designed to provide each student with the knowledge and skills needed for a successful college experience and beyond. Honors courses and advanced studies are offered for students who wish to pursue additional coursework in areas of special interest and abilities. The Wildwood Institute Model provides a parallel path for learning that resonates with 21st century learning skills and expectations. This path is not based on a curriculum, but instead uses authentic contexts such as a science research lab, a social leadership collaborative, or an incubator foundry.
